The company, which provides aggregates, site clearance, earthmoving and excavation services across the northeast of the country, added the new HX300AL and HX330AL crawler excavators and an HL970A wheeled loader to its fleet.

While the Stage V-compliant HX300AL and HX330AL excavators weigh 30 and 33 t respectively, the HL970A wheeled loader tips the scales at 24.2 t.

According to Hyundai, which is set to reveal a concept hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered wheeled excavator at this year’s Bauma exhibition in Germany, all three models are fitted with the Cummins L9 Stage V engine, which is designed for heavy-duty applications, and an all-in-one exhaust aftertreatment system.

While both the HX300AL and HX330AL excavators feature Hyundai’s Electronic Pump Independent Control (EPIC) for improved fuel efficiency and customisable hydraulic attachment lines, the HL970A offers Smart Power mode that automatically adjusts engine revolutions in heavy applications to reduce fuel consumption.

Tom Russell, Director of CW Russell, said: “The excavators in our fleet have got to be powerful. They’re turning over big heaps when they’re crushing and screening, and the Hyundais are more than up to the challenge.”

CW Russell’s new machines join a fleet that comprises over 40 excavators, crushers, screens and wheeled loading shovels in the 20 to 50 t weight class - of which 16 are Hyundai machines.
