Skipway upgrades with new Hyundai A-Series loaders

14 February 2023

Northern Ireland-based Skipway Waste Management & Recycling has purchased two A-series wheeled loaders from Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe (HCEE) in the latest stage of an association dating back 25 years.

HCEE dealer Northern Lift Trucks sourced the HL960A machines for Skipway, which provides demolition, aggregate, haulage and skip hire services throughout the country.

The machines have been earmarked for different uses – one will be based at a materials recovery site in the capital city Belfast and used for the heavy-duty tasks of stockpiling waste and loading rubble and timber.

This machine has been fitted with longer arms and supplied with different bucket attachments to any load, terrain and material in its path.

The second HL960A will be used for waste transportation at a second site in Newtownards.

With Skipway’s current waste recycling rate at the 92% mark, the choice of machine was key, and the stage V model from the A-Series had already been awarded the SaMoTer Technical Innovation Award in the Medium Wheeled Loaders category.

“A typical day on one of our sites is long and complex, so we need machines that can live up to the challenge,” said systems manager Matthew Heatrick.

“The A-series has been above and beyond what we expected and our operators have been extremely complimentary about them.

“From our side, the camera system gives us peace of mind that the machines will be operated safely and the fuel economy is obviously a big plus.”
