Dykon merges with Precision and Academy under DetX name
24 June 2025
United States-based specialists Dykon Demolition, Precision Blasting Services and Academy Blasting have merged to form DetX, a new company focused on providing explosives-related services across North America and beyond.

The new entity, DetX, was formally launched on 20 June and combines the operational and training experience of all three organisations.
According to the company, it will offer demolition, rock blasting, blast engineering, and explosives training under a single brand.
Dr Anthony Konya, founder and CEO of DetX, said: “High-consequence blasting isn’t a market niche. It’s a mission. Our role is to bring absolute clarity, control, and confidence to the projects where everything is on the line.
“That’s why DetX was built—to answer the challenges no one else is equipped to handle.”
DetX will deliver services including explosive demolition and implosion, underwater and rock blasting, vibration modelling, and explosives disposal.
The company will also provide certification and training programmes for contractors and government agencies.
As part of the consolidation, existing service lines have been unified to provide clients with a single partner for all phases of explosives work, from design through to post-blast support.
Following the merger, the company also revealed that it has established a new business in the United Kingdom, by partnering with Alford Technologies - a specialist explosives manufacturer and military, government and commercial services provider.
The new UK company is called DetX Alford and will provide high-consequence services across Europe, leveraging Alford Technologies’ engineering and R&D capability while aligning with DetX’s operational model.
Commenting on the capabilities of the newly established business, Roland Alford, Managing Director of both Alford Technologies and DetX Alford, said: “We’ve got a full R&D infrastructure in the UK and we manufacture in Malaysia. That gives us agility. We can adapt to regulatory conditions, prototype quickly, and scale when needed.”
COMING SOON: D&Ri interviews DetX’s Dr Anthony Konya, Ron Gilbert and Roland Alford of DetX Alford, who speak candidly about their collaboration and how they plan to shape the future of explosive demolition.
