The new E50z and E55z mini excavators weigh 4.8 and 5.2 t respectively and are both powered by a Kubota V2403 four-cylinder engine, which provides 36.5 kW of power at 2200 RPM.

Robert Husar, product line director for Bobcat Mini-Excavators in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), said: “We are delighted to announce the new Bobcat R2-Series 5 to 6 t mini-excavators, the design of which has benefitted from the close involvement of our customers at every stage of the process.”

Designed to be both robust and “easy-to-use”, which will appeal to the construction equipment rental sector, the mini excavators offer operators a cab with more headspace, legroom and storage.

Building on the company’s R-Series range of machines in the 2 to 4 t class range, the larger R2-Series models are the first of next generation machines to include the Bobcat Zero House Swing (ZHS) feature.

ZHS ensures that the upper structure of the machines - including the boom swing offset cycling, front corners, handles, lights and the door - “remains fully within the footprint of the tracks” when rotating.

Structurally, heavy-duty steel side channels and a counterweight that acts a bumper, means that the inner components of the E50z and E55z - along with other critical lights and hoses - are further protected from damage when carrying out tough applications such as demolition.

When it comes to technology, the R2-Series machines are equipped with Bobcat’s latest main control valve, dual curve joysticks and proportional thumb-controlled boom swing offset.

While both the E50z and E55z are available with optional extras - including a heated seat, headrest and a new 5-inch display panel - the machines also offer users up to three arm-mounted hydraulic auxiliary lines and a case drain line.
