Czech contractor BISA Spol is using a Develon DX380DM-7 demolition excavator to dismantle the four-storey structure’s external walls and chimneys, following a manual strip-out that recovered valuable materials including granite staircases, cast iron columns, and hand-carved beams.

These materials are intended for reuse, such as in the restoration of historic buildings.

The Tesla site has a history dating back to the 19th century. Originally a tobacco factory, it was converted in 1944 into an electrical engineering plant.

From 1946, it became part of the national enterprise TESLA, specialising in the production of electrolytic capacitors, resistors, and potentiometers.

Approximately 30 workers are involved in the demolition process. The DX380DM-7 high reach, which is powered by a Stage V-compliant Scania DC09 engine, can reach up to 23 metres and has an operating weight of 47.5 tonnes, will later be fitted with a digging arm and used for subsequent rubble removal, with all demolition and clearance works expected to take about one month.
