A Sennebogen 870 E longfront demolition material handler has helped a German demolition contractor take down a 16,000 sq m (172,000 sq ft) hall in the city of Nuremberg.

The project – the fifth job site that Sauer Bau und Projektentwicklung has worked on since purchasing the machine – took place at the end of 2018.

The Nuremberg project was the fifth to feature the Sennebogen 870 E since Sauer Bau bought the machine

The building had stood for almost 100 years and the job of the 33 m (108 ft) long 870 E with its 4 t payload was to grasp individual facade elements and entire building structures accurately and precisely with the demolition shears or grab and bring the components safely to the ground. At the same time, the machine can shred and load the material on site thanks to its flexible change options between sorting grabs, concrete or scrap shears.

“Thanks to the tiltable and elevatable cab, I have a good overview of my working area even when we have to operate on very high buildings, and at the same time I am protected from falling objects by safety grids on the roof and windshield,” said driver Martin Sturm.

Martin added that a further advantage for the work processes on the construction site is the simple commissioning of the demolition handler. As the machine can be set up and dismantled by itself without external assistance, no auxiliary crane is required.
