Anders Strange Sørensen has been appointed as new head of sustainability and development at Tscherning, as part of the Danish company’s strategic efforts in the areas of social sustainability, circular demolition, the reuse of building materials and ESG.
Sørensen comes from a position as sustainability manager at construction contractor Enemærke & Petersen, where he spent nine years working to integrate sustainability into the organisation, its processes and its construction projects.
Among other things, he has developed solutions that systematically ensure the reuse of building materials, strengthen sustainability documentation and create better frameworks for social employment in the construction industry, said Tscherning.
In his new post, Sørensen will build on the company’s strong position in construction, recycling and circular demolition, while also helping to advance efforts in social responsibility and the development of a more inclusive and future-proof construction industry, it added.
“We’ve already shown that we can lead the way in reducing CO2 emissions, recycling and circular demolition. With Anders on board, that agenda will broaden to include people as well. Sustainability isn’t just about the environment, we also need to look out for one another,” stated CEO Søren Tscherning.
This appointment is part of Tscherning’s focus on sustainability and the company’s first ESG report. Sørensen is set to play “a key role” in further developing sustainability efforts across the organisation, including work on climate, recycling, reporting and social initiatives.
“What really drew me to Tscherning is its ambition to transform the industry. We share a desire to advance both the profession and the people behind it. Tscherning is already strong in the circular economy, and now we need to take social responsibility just as seriously,” he said.
