22 February 2011

The National Demolition Association will use its Annual Convention in Las Vegas in early March to announce a new Disaster Response Programme that is intended to link federal and state disaster response coordinators in the USA with pre-qualified demolition contractors. These contractors have been evaluated in terms of capabilities, equipment and manpower necessary to respond to natural on man-made disasters.

According to NDA executive director Mike Taylor: "Following the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, it became evident that an organised programme was needed to vet demolition industry professionals as that 'second responders' would be ready and able to be called upon at a moment's notice.

Details of the programme will be unveiled by Tom Robinette, president of Robinette Demolition Inc and NDA past president, and two other Robinette executives, Jerry Myrick and Tom Stahr.
