Link-Belt introduces telematics/GPS technology

Premium Content

07 April 2014

With effect from the beginning of April, all Link-Belt excavators will be supplied with a combined telematics/GPS system called RemoteCARE. This will provide users with machine utilisation and operational data in addition to 24-hour surveillance and geo-fencing capabilities. Operating data can be scheduled on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis to allow owners to better manage their work requirements and asset investments, says LBX.

The system racks and records both routine and major service intervals for the individual machine and transmits this data to the dealer to ensure that all parts and consumables required for any service are accounted for prior to the machine’s arrival. It also provides alerts for possible failure conditions as they arise, with a warning displayed on the cab display and an email alert sent direct to the dealer.

In addition, it offers a number of security features that protect the machine from damage or theft. The machine’s location can be mapped using the internet and a working area can be designated such that an alarm is issued should the machine move beyond the boundaries and the system switches into a tracking mode to allow the machine to be traced. Available on all new machines, it can also be retrofitted to an X3 model, and a three year subscription comes at no additional cost to the user.
