Laurini marks 70th anniversary, launching its own high-reach demolition machine

Bespoke equipment specialist Laurini Officine Meccaniche has launched its own 33-tonne demolition excavator, designed specifically for high-reach and heavy tool applications.

The machine, named the Settanta, was introduced to coincide with the company’s 70th anniversary, and is the first demolition machine made by the company under its own brand.

The Settanta is available in four interchangeable boom configurations. These comprise a high-reach demolition boom with a 24.5-metre pin height for a 3,000 kg tool, a triple boom with a 14-metre pin height and a 6,000 kg tool capacity, and a telescopic boom with adjustable height from 25 to 30 metres and 2,000 kg tool capacity. It can also be configured with a lattice lifting boom with integrated hydraulic winch.

Commenting on the launch of the high reach machine, Laurini said: “Traditional excavation equipment, when repurposed for demolition tasks, often shows limitations in structural integrity, power delivery, and operational efficiency.

“In response to these challenges, Laurini Officine Meccaniche Srl has introduced the Settanta. Named to mark the company’s 70th anniversary (1955–2025), it represents not only a milestone in Laurini’s history but also a technological breakthrough in the demolition sector—a new benchmark.”

According to Laurini, the Settanta is designed to match the performance of a converted 45-tonne excavator. The company said the unit’s frame-integrated counterweight and compact dimensions – including a 2.5-metre transport width – support transport efficiency and load balance.

The machine features a hydraulically adjustable undercarriage that can extend from 2.5 to 3.7 metres. It uses 5-metre-long side frames, 550 mm wide track shoes, and a 203.2 mm pitch chain.

Laurini said this configuration increases ground contact and stability, particularly for 360-degree rotation during demolition work. It also has a reinforced slewing ring designed for heavy load handling.

The Settanta’s hydraulic system includes a Danfoss load-sensing circuit, capable of 350 litres per minute at 350 bar, with a booster reaching 380 bar. It is powered by a 257 kW (350 HP) Scania DC09 engine and includes an automatic greasing system.

A standout feature of the model is that it can be set up to operate up to five different tools, with quick configuration changes supported by the integrated control system.

Designed to offer a high level of site visibility, the operator’s cab includes heating, air conditioning, and a hydraulically tilting mechanism of up to 30 degrees. It is FOPS-certified and includes a machine parameter display, anti-tip system, and integrated camera views.

A self-mounting function allows the machine to load, unload, and install its boom without separate lifting equipment. This is combined with Laurini’s new HQCS (Hydraulic Hoses and Wiring Quick Coupling System), which allows all hydraulic and electrical lines to be connected automatically from the cab.
