Dewalt and Trackunit cooperate on tool location tracking

Trackunit and power tool supplier Dewalt have entered a partnership that will enable contractors and tool owners to locate their tools on construction sites using Trackunit’s Bluetooth network.

Dewalt’s Tool Connect technology will integrate with the Trackunit Network, meaning that tool owners can locate tools through other equipment that’s already connected to the Trackunit system.

“The network is the largest challenge in deploying tool tracking at scale,” said Eric Loeliger, group product manager at Dewalt.

“This partnership turns the infrastructure contractors already have into a detection network for their Dewalt tools, with significantly less effort.”

Location is initial phase

The worldwide partnership will start with an initial phase focused on tool location across contractor operations worldwide.

Trackunit said the companies were working towards a “deeper data capability” as the Dewalt Tool Connect platform expands.

Fred Rio, senior vice president of product at Trackunit, said; “To cut search time and maximize time-on-tool, contractors need to know they have the right tools in the right place before work begins.

“The Trackunit Network is already on site. This partnership puts Dewalt tools on that network from day one.”
