The toolbox provides a structured framework for career progression, covering entry-level roles through to leadership positions, and is designed to address skills shortages, improve safety standards and support long-term workforce retention.

“Demolition is built on the expertise of our people,” said NDA President Ben Hayden of Hayden Wrecking, East Saint Louis, Illinois.

“The Workforce Development Toolbox is a game-changer. It gives our members the resources to define clear career paths, invest in their employees and, ultimately, elevate the entire demolition profession.”

The resource is divided into six sections. The Job Descriptions section sets out standardized frameworks for roles, outlining responsibilities, required skills and progression opportunities.

Organization & Recruitment provides tools such as the Anatomy of a Demolition Crew and pre-screening materials to support consistent hiring practices.

In Mentorship, members are guided on developing pre-apprenticeship and peer-to-peer schemes to transfer knowledge and strengthen team cohesion.

The Self-Development section offers resources such as the NDA Safety App and the Starting Out Right video series to encourage personal growth and safety awareness.

The Education section includes training programmes such as Demolition Methods, Planning and Design, the Superintendent Bootcamp and the Foundation of Demolition Management Training Series, covering areas like estimating and project management.

Finally, the Certification section offers nationally recognised credentials, including Certified Demolition Supervisor and Certified Demolition Technician, to validate skills and professional standards.

The NDA said the new toolbox combines recruitment resources, training and professional credentials to help build a safer, more skilled and more professional demolition workforce. It is now available for download.
