The main conference (day 2 of the event) will give demolition, construction, and recycling industry professionals an insight into the latest developments on managing and mitigating asbestos risks.

It will feature an opening speech by Jose Blanco of the European Decontamination Institute, who will address the legacy of asbestos in buildings and infrastructure.

Other key presentations include, Creating Asbestos Expertise in Chile by Professor Roger Willey (ACS Risk) and Cristian Ramirez Lynch (BRISA), Asbestos Developments in Japan and The European Commission’s Report on Asbestos Waste Treatment Technologies, by Marco Camboni of RPA Europe.

With asbestos still present in many older buildings around the world, the challenges for those involved in demolition and recycling are significant.

As previous years, the world’s leading specialists in asbestos will be in attendance, making the event a vital educational and networking opportunity.

The conference – which excels in its international coverage – will bring together a total of around 30 experts from six continents.

They will cover topics including asbestos identification, removal, disposal, and innovative practices in asbestos risk management.

There will also be photo exhibitions by Tony Rich of Absestorama and Carlos Salinas of Eurofins, and a gala evening event complete with entertainment.

Dr. Yvonne Waterman, Founder and President of the European Asbestos Forum, said: “The EAF event aims to equip industry professionals with the most up-to-date knowledge and best practices for dealing with asbestos in demolition and construction, which is critical for protecting workers and the public.”

“It also seeks to bridge gaps between different industries and regions, promoting collaboration and the sharing of solutions to address the complex issue of asbestos in the built environment.”

In addition to presentations, the forum will offer practical workshops, exhibitions showcasing the latest technologies, and opportunities for attendees to engage in discussions on policy developments, regulatory changes, and industry standards.

The full programme is available on the European Asbestos Forum website.
