Demolition without a footprint

At the World Demolition Summit 2026, site manager Jose Carlos Juan Muñoz will explain the company’s “Demolition Without Footprint” approach.

He will draw on project examples to show how changes to site processes, equipment and resource management have helped Erri Berri increase material recovery while reducing water use and emissions. The company reports a recovery rate of 98.56% for 2025.

Erri Berri’s work has also been featured in a UN Global Compact case study. The case study describes how the company transforms demolition into a circular, value-creating model.

It does so by training its workforce, sorting and processing materials on site, working with authorised recycling partners and using a digital system to trace waste to its final destination.

The session will examine what it takes to apply these measures on demolition projects: the operational challenges, the results achieved and the lessons other contractors could take from Erri Berri’s experience.
