Dutch metal recycling specialist, Van Dalen, has bought three new Terex material handlers for its metals processing and shipping operations in the UK.

The new machines are Terex TM350s and they are equipped with straight material handling booms and cactus grabs for sorting, re-handling and loading scrap metal at Van Dalen's yards in Dagenham, Chatham and Hartlepool Docks.

The standard 33.5t (74000 lb) TM350 provides a maximum outreach of 15.9 m (52 ft), but the 34.2t machine installed at Hartlepool has been equipped with factory-fitted options of an extra-long boom and stick arrangement (10.6 m + 7.7m) to give up to 18 m (40 ft) outreach and a grabbing depth of 10.99 m (36 ft).

It also has an elevating cab with a 1.2 m (4 ft) extension tower, giving an eye-level height of 6 m (20 ft) above ground and a clear line of visibility for the operator into the ships' holds.
