Celebrated for its grand architecture, world-class museums, delicious tapas and lively nightlife, Madrid promises to add an extra special dimension to the World Demolition Summit (WDS) this coming November.

The event will take place at the 790-room Novotel Madrid Center – the largest Novotel in the world – which houses one of the city’s largest internal convention centres, complete with advanced tech facilities across multiple auditoriums and meeting spaces.

An ideal starting point for those taking time to experience the capital by foot, the hotel is a short walk from the beautiful El Retiro (The Retreat) Park and Paseo del Prado, Europe’s first tree-lined urban promenade, flanked by world-class museums like the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofía. This whole area was declared a joint World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021.

Its central location makes arriving and departing easy, with the nearest metro station less than five minutes away, the Atocha railway station just 10 minutes from the venue, and Madrid-Barajas international airport a 20-minute taxi ride. The hotel is also conveniently located 200 metres from the direct airport bus service.

But crucially, not only does Madrid offer a spectacular setting for the 2026 World Demolition Summit and Awards, it is also the home of the EDA, the trade association that brings together the European demolition industry.

“The close partnership between KHL Group and the European Demolition Association goes back all the way to when Demolition & Recycling International was first launched in 1999, so as we looked to take the WDS to Spain, it was only natural that we chose Madrid as the venue,” said editor and programme organiser Neel Madsen.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to this beautiful city and the fantastic venue – it’s going to be quite the occasion!”
