The latest version of the Rubblebuster SR500 crusher from Pilot Crushtec has been updated to provide a more efficient product to both the local and international recycling markets according to the manufacturer.

The tracked, diesel-driven, mobile, horizontal shaft impact crusher is capable of handling 30 to 50 tonnes/hour.

According to Paul Chappel, export sales manager for Pilot Crushtec, the machine was constructed initially for rubble and recycling applications, mainly in Europe and the UK.

"This is our strongest market, mainly because recycling in South Africa is still in its infancy. In the UK and Europe the smaller contractor, who is required by legislation to recycle material, does not want to incur major expense so he runs smaller machines on site. The Rubblebuster is ideally suited for this."

Talking about the versatility of the machine, Mr Chappel said the Rubblebuster SR500 is able to accept a feed size of up to 400 mm in softer rock. A variable rotor speed from 200 to 1000 rpm allows operators maximum flexibility to produce the products they want, he added.

The new crusher has simple centralised controls and hydraulic operation of all functions, including the crusher housing opening.

Referring to the power pack, Mr Chappel added that this is mounted on a sliding frame so that during maintenance, the power pack will slide out of the machine. No hose or cables need to be disconnected and the engine can be started and run at idle speed whilst in the extended position.

The engine speed has been reduced specifically to improve fuel efficiency and extend the life of the engine.
