Terex Finlay has introduced the 45 tonne transport weight J-1170 primary mobile crusher built around the company’s proven 1.1 m (3.6 ft) x 0.7 m (2.3 ft) jaw crusher for recycling, aggregate production and mining applications.

According to the company, the jaw chamber provides excellent material reduction and product sizing when processing blasted rock and ore material and is available with an optional hydraulic release with an automatic overload protection system for when the unit is used to crush construction and demolition debris.

Power comes from either a Tier 3/Stage IIIA Cat C9 diesel delivering 261 kW (350 hp) or a Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB Scania DC9 70A delivering 257 kW (350 hp).

The hydrostatic transmission of the jaw chamber allows for reversible operation to help clear blockages and also provides variable chamber speed to allow the crusher to be tailored to the application. The J-1170 has a heavy duty variable speed grizzly feeder with integrated pre-screen ensures continuous choke feeding of the chamber for optimised crushing performance. Material from the pre-screen can be diverted to a stockpile via an on-board by-pass conveyor or join the crushed product on the main belt.

The machine features a large 9.6 cubic metre (340 cubic feet) has hydraulically folding sides and a hydraulic self-locking mechanism to provide efficient and faster machine set up and tear down times.
