The National Demolition Association (NDA) in the USA is helping to collect personal protective equipment (PPE) for a hospital in Seattle and is asking its member demolition companies to do the same for their local communities.

The organisation has published a plea for help on its website and in its newsletter, asking demolition contractors to donate their spare PPE to the University of Washington Medicine health system which, like many other healthcare organisations and hospitals, is in need of supplies.

Companies are being asked to donate items such as N95 respirators, Tyvek suits, Nitrile gloves, clear plastic face shields to cover N95 and half face respirators and N100 or P100 cartridges.

The NDA said: “While we know there is a shortage of supplies, members unused PPE can translate to a health care setting.

“Please consider reaching out to the hardest hit areas of the US first, but also your local health systems to see what you can provide.”
