Metso celebrates century

21 May 2015

Metso’s production facility in Tampere, Finland, the company’s most important competence centre for its crusher manufacturing operations, is celebrating 100 years of existence. Known locally as Lokomo, the facility began life in 1915 producing steam engines. Today, with more than 700 employees, it manufactures the bulk of the company's mobile crushing plants, of which more than 7,000 have been manufactured over 30 years.

"Lokomo's one-hundred-year history is indicative of its ability to transform and be innovative and to remain at the cutting edge of technology over the course of a century. Throughout its history, Metso's Tampere unit has boldly transformed and developed fresh innovations to meet the needs of the day. An excellent example of this is the unit's evolution into a globally significant crushing equipment competence centre for today's Metso," said Metso president and CEO Matti Kähkönen.
