Sports broadcasting icon John Inverdale will be the host of this year’s World Demolition Awards, which take place in London on Thursday November 2.

With an international line up across 12 categories, the awards night promises to be keenly contested. So who better to act as MC than a man who has seen some of the planet’s greatest names go head to head?

As well as his principal role as BBC’s face of rugby, John has covered almost all the major sporting events for television and radio. After fronting rugby and football World Cups, as well as Wimbledon tennis, he added rowing to his list at Beijing in 2008 and covered athletics for London 2012.

John has anchored the Grandstand and Rugby Special television programmes and hosted John Inverdale’s Football Night and the sports chat show On Side. He has also presented the popular drivetime show on Radio 5 Live and several series of the World’s Strongest Man.

A wonderfully relaxed and dry-humoured presenter, John has been named Sony Broadcaster and Radio Personality of the Year.

The World Demolition Awards are organised by Demolition & Recycling International magazine in co-operation with the European Demolition Association and are part of the World Demolition Summit, which also features a one-day technical conference.
