Times may be tough out there for some, but UK demolition outfit Lee Group Ltd has demonstrated its belief in a positive future by committing to a major fleet upgrade. It has ordered a total of 25 Hitachi excavators, including five high reach models, ranging in size from 13 to 70 tonnes. The high reaches will include two 70 tonne Zaxis 670s and a Kocurek modified Zaxis 225 zero tail swing model that will have a reach of 15.5 m (51 ft) and an all-up weight of 32 tonnes when delivered,

The 25 new excavators will be joined by an appropriate number of new attachments - shears, pulverisers, grapple and breakers. In addition, Lee has ordered two Sandvik mobile crushers to expand its recycling capabilities.

According to Lee Group managing director David Lee: "It is essential that we own, maintain and operate a modern, capable fleet of demolition and recycling equipment. When undertaking large scale, high profile projects, it is important to fulfill our clients' requirements safely and expeditiously without relying on third party equipment hirers. Lee Group's ongoing investment in new plant allows us to deliver this time and time again."
