Kocurek and Caterpillar take Manufacturer prizes

Premium Content

The World Demolition Awards have been running since 2009, and Kocurek has been gracing the stage as a winner since 2011. In fact this was the company’s sixth win in 13 events, a remarkable effort considering that as an equipment manufacturer it only has one category that it can enter for.

Both innovation category winners were announced by Jim Graham, a member of the nine-person international judging panel that decides the winners, and the judges’ verdict was: “Kocurek has developed a demolition tool carrier that can achieve more than 75 m (246 ft) maximum vertical pin height with a 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) demolition attachment.

For the winner, David Kocurek congratulated everyone who had taken part in the awards and paid tribute to the efforts of all his team at the factory, from where he recorded his video.

INNOVATION TOOLS Cat Command Cat Command, a vital part of the company’s new offering

Caterpillar’s submission for its awards entry emphasised its “one stop shop” nature and the judges agreed, saying: “The Cat Next Gen X platform developed from listening to and observing the demolition industry to present a one stop shop guided by integrated engineering”.

New attachments and other technology introduced by Caterpillar include the HCS coupler which couples and uncouples attachments without the operator leaving the cab; new and updated dedicated rotating and non-rotating pulverisers; the PL161 tracker to assist with locating assets and recording attachment hours; and Cat Command for up to 340 sized Next Gen demolition machines.
