JCB TAB on the mark for Sutton Services

Suffolk, UK, based Sutton Services has taken delivery of a JCB JS260XD, ordered to replace a JS220 machine, which is equipped with a triple articulating boom (TAB). This has a length of 6.24 m (20.5 ft), up from the standard 5.85 m (19.2 ft), and thus provides an increased dig depth of 12.12 m (39.76 ft) when fitted with a 3.53 m (11.58 ft) as well as increased reach when working with attachments in the demolition role. The TAB also allows the operator to work right up to the tracks, which is particularly useful when the machine is processing debris using a grapple or shear.

Sutton is using the new machine to carry out demolition work at the former RAF Mildenhall air force base, where it is demolishing an accommodation block, Building 479, for base facilities management provider Vinci Facilities. Sutton has a number of demolition contracts with this company involving two and three storey structures, work for which the JS260XD is proving to be better equipped.

The machine’s additional weight of more than 27 tonnes provides a stable base for a range of attachments and its full auxiliary hydraulic circuits allows the machine to carry a breaker, pulveriser, shear or grapple as required.
