Green award for brick recycling

Australian brick manufacturer Midland Brick as been recognised for its recycling efforts by the award of the Department of Environment and Conservation's 2007 WA Environment Award. The award was made for the company's recycling programmes, and the incorporation of building waste back into its manufacturing processes through its Reuse, Recycle, Rebuild project in particular.
The free of charge brick and paver recycling service is based around recycling bins provided at the company's Middle Swan, Jandakot, Osborne Park and Joondalup facilities.
More than 7,500 tonnes of brick waste from construction and demolition sites around Western Australia were processed during 2006-2007, equivalent to more than 2.5 million individual bricks.
