Granite Construction has won a US$ 22.4 million contract to demolish the US 82 Greenville Bridge, about 100 miles (161 km) northwest of Jackson, Mississippi, from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).

The work includes demolition and removal of the 2.25-mile (3.62 km) steel through-truss bridge that spans the Mississippi River.

Granite will also perform grading and asphalt paving for the roadway leading to the new US 82 Greenville Bridge.

Work is expected to start in March with completion due in September 2012.
