Gearing up for Demolition Phoenix

Building on its previous success in the city, the North American National Demolition Association (NDA) has chosen to return to Phoenix for its flagship event.

Hosted at the convention centre downtown, it will see a number of workshops, bootcamps and presentations, along with a supplier exhibition, complemented by equipment demonstrations taking place on the southern outskirts of the city.

Going live at the track

Promising to be a real highlight, the Live DEMOlition Event and Challenge will be held at the Firebird Motorsports Park, with shuttles ferrying attendees back and forth.

This hands-on showcase will offer attendees the opportunity to test out machinery and equipment from the various participating manufacturers under practical conditions.

A broad range of equipment will be available to test, including excavators, shears, concrete breakers, dust control cannons, materials handlers, hand tools, concrete saws, cutting tools, robotics and more.

Meanwhile, the challenge stages will see competitors tackle various tasks operating an MH3032 material handler with orange peel grapple and a 938M wheel loader with forks and remote station control.

The lucky winner will take away a Cat 352 UHD excavator scale model, a CAT Winter Jacket, and a CAT 55qt cooler.

Insights, educations and entertainment

The pre-convention presentations will according to the NDA be “packed with expert insights and real-world strategies built for demolition professionals.” A superintendent bootcamp and a hands-on equipment maintenance course are among the offers.

The convention keynote “Force Forward” panel presentation, on Friday 6 February, will discuss how to shape the future of demolition through workforce innovation. Other topics covered include innovation, planning, safety, regulations, and recycling through presentations during the packed event schedule.

There will also be plenty of time to network and enjoy some downtime. A nine-round putt-putt challenge will test golfing skills while the cornhole tournament will no doubt be very competitive.

Friday finishes with the NDA’s Deserts Nights & Neon Lights at The Duce, before the build up to the annual awards banquet on Saturday night where excellence in demolition will be celebrated.
