The provisional programme for the European Demolition Association ‘spring' conference, to be held in Nice, France, over 4-6 June, 2009 is now available on the EDA's website, www.eda-demolition.com. The event will be opened by president Yves Canessa, with other presentations coming from representatives of some of the leading European demolition contractors, who will outline some challenging demolition contracts they have undertaken in recent months.

These include Mr Canessa himself, who will report on the demolition by DSD Demolition of the Axe litoral in Marseille, Mr R Cremer from Mende Schornsteinbau GmbH who will outline the demolition of the Steelbeton chimney and Celso Anka, from Anka Demoliciones y Derribos, who will outline some of the challenges to be faced on demolition projects and how to overcome them. In addition, Stefano Panseri from Despe will present the EDA's first draft report covering the use of high reach equipment.

As usual, the conference will extend from Friday 5th into Saturday 6th, the morning of which will see another project outlined by Francisco Cobo from Detecsa, who will discuss the deconstruction of the Plaza de las Glorias in Madrid. The final technical presentation will be made by William Sinclair from Safedem who will outline the use of explosives in the demolition role. A number of other presentations will be made by the various companies who will be sponsoring the event, outlining the specialist equipment that they can offer to the industry.

As is normal, a full social programme has been put together, with a reception on the evening of the 4th following the EDA board meeting, an informal dinner on the Friday night and a formal Gala Dinner at Ruhl Beach on the Saturday night.
