First shown at Plantworx this week, the company said the new CR550 Diesel Hybrid Crusher weighs just under 2,800 kg, measures 1,300 mm wide, and can be transported on a standard UK trailer with a standard driving licence.

The model features a hybrid powertrain comprising a 19 kW diesel engine paired with a 10 kW e-machine.

The system is designed to deliver additional power during peak crushing loads and to recharge during lighter work, aiming to reduce fuel use and emissions compared with conventional units.

The crusher incorporates hydraulically adjustable jaws, ranging from 3 mm to 75 mm, with controls available on the machine or via remote operation.

It also includes jaw stroke direction control for processing different materials, as well as Dragon Equipment’s anti-stall and ‘no-stress’ systems to maintain continuous operation.

In terms of performance, D&RI was told that it can crush between 25 and 30 tons an hour.

Remote control operation allows start/stop functions, tracking, and adjustments from an excavator cab. For transport and on-site handling, the CR550 is equipped with robust tracks, fold-up conveyors, multiple tie-down points, and twin lifting points.

The unit has a 33 L fuel tank, providing over eight hours of operation. Serviceability is supported through a hinged bonnet, central greasing point, and accessible fuel tank.

Dragon Equipment said the machine is built in Suffolk, with 80–85% of components sourced locally within 50 miles of its factory.
