Demolition Summit heads for record attendance

This year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS) - the 11th of its kind and the second to take place in the USA - is set to create a new attendance record.

With just over a week to go before the conference awards and networking event, registrations were already ahead of the previous best of 394 set in London two years ago.

And the indications are that the numbers could hit as high as 450 for the first time.

The WDS is organised by Demolition & Recycling International in co-operation with the USA’s National Demolition Association (NDA) and with the support of the European Demolition Association. The headline sponsor among the 20-plus organisations who have supported the summit commercially is Volvo Construction Equipment.

Delegate numbers have grown dramatically in recent years, in particular since the WDS left its historical base of Amsterdam, Netherlands in favour of a different venue every 12 months. Since 2016 it has been to Miami, London, Dublin and now Boston with a return to Europe planned for 2020.

Once again the summit will adhere to its tried and tested format of a networking drinks reception on the Wednesday evening, followed by a conference during the daytime on Thursday and finally the World Demolition Awards evening dinner.

It is truly global with speakers from four continents addressing the conference, and more than 30 companies battling it out for the awards.

The venue is the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel and the dates are October 23 and 24
