Komatsu will use bauma to officially launch its latest high reach demolition excavator, the 37 tonne PC290NLCLC

Komatsu plans a bauma launch for a new high reach demolition rig, the PC290NLCLC. This will be the smallest machine in the company's range of demolition machines (giving the company four models, assuming the rumoured flagship model, the PC800, reaches market ).

The new PC290 weighs in at 40 tonnes (including the tool) and offers a reach of 18.3 m (60 ft), making it ideal for the demolition of three and four storey structures. Given its relatively compact dimensions and weight, the new machine is expected to shine on jobs where working areas are restricted, especially as it offers a maximum tool weight of 3 tonnes. Its relatively compact size will also make it easier to transport, a positive boon in some European countries.

It is also equipped with Komatsu's boom quick coupling system, and will be supplied with hinged workstands, which are easier to handle and reduce the boom changeover time further. It comes with a 30 degree tilting cab, Level II FOPS, proportional controls and heavy duty guarding on the base machine and attachment cylinder.
