Atlas Copco has added ZBC to its lightweight ZenergiZe lithium-ion energy storage system for rental or construction applications.

The company says the ZenergiZe ZBC range offers rated power from 100kVA to 1000kVA and an energy storage capacity of 250kWh and 2000kWh, depending on the model - for long life autonomy, and lower fuel consumption and emissions.

ZBC ZenergiZe captures and stores the energy from solar panels.

“For example, in a hybrid system, a rental company can save up to 80% in fuel by using ZBC and a small generator. In an island mode, it provides zero CO2 emissions, zero NOx pollution, and zero noise.”

ZBC can be used as a standalone source, combined with generators to make a hybrid power solution, or with renewable sources of energy such as solar.

As with other ZenergiZe systems, it can be synchronised with other energy storage systems, enabling users to scale their solution, with up to 30 ZBCs working in parallel in any power node.

ZBC ZenergiZe can also be configured to create microgrids, with intelligent control managing microgrid power supply for small towns, university campuses, and neighborhoods.

Intelligent controls also manage supply and demand from different energy sources, which the company says increases the efficiency of hybrid solutions, meaning cost reductions for the total solution.

Atlas Copco says ZenergiZe’s use of high-density lithium-ion batteries results in a system that is 70% smaller and lighter in weight than other battery technologies, with units measuring approximately three to six metres in length depending on the model.

Bárbara Gregorio, Product Marketing Manager – Innovative Energies & Digital Solutions at Atlas Copco’s Power and Flow Division, described ZenergiZe as “an energy solution that can help customers minimise environmental impact while benefiting from a low cost of ownership.”

“Our energy storage system range delivers zero CO2 emissions, zero NOx pollution, zero noise, and has virtually zero maintenance,” she said.
