Liberty Industrial signs agreement with Peterson Energy Logistics

International energy logistics provider Peterson and Liberty Industrial have established a strategic alliance that will allow Liberty exclusive use of the Peterson Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour yard facility in the east of England.

In the exclusive agreement, the yard will be used to decommission offshore platform topsides, jackets and subsea equipment in line with Liberty Industrial’s sustainable commitment to recycle, reuse or repurpose upwards of 95% of all salvaged waste and material.

Commissioned for the delivery and decommissioning of offshore structures around 4,500 t and other subsea materials, the facility is described as providing the flexibility to execute multiple projects simultaneously.

The alliance will combine Liberty – an Australia-based demolition contractor that has operated in Britain since last year – and Peterson’s expertise and assets to offer an end-to-end service focused on operational efficiencies and risk reduction.

It will also allow Liberty to support a range of clients in the United Kingdom and across mainland Europe.

“We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Peterson for the Great Yarmouth facility and we look forward to bringing our global expertise in decommissioning large scale structures to the UK,” said Clinton Dick, founding director at Liberty Industrial.

“The alliance will also leverage our experienced global personnel who bring lessons learned from challenging and complex decommissioning projects carried out in the North Sea.”

As well as the Great Yarmouth facility, Peterson Energy Logistics also has decommissioning facilities at the Dales Voe and Greenhead bases in Shetland, off the coast of Scotland.

It has been in existence for more than 100 years and is now part of a wider group operating in over 70 countries with 5,000 people globally.
