The rate at which new powertrain technologies will be adopted on off-highway machinery will be the focus of a presentation at the Diesel Progress Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, on 30 September, the day before the ICUEE trade show.

Alex Woodrow, Managing Director of the off-highway technology consultancy Knibb, Gormezano and Partners (KGP), will summarise the key drivers and trends behind increased electrification and alternative fuels in non-road powertrains.

“With net zero carbon emissions targets being discussed in Europe and other key markets, non-road machinery will not escape the shift”, said Woodrow.

“Although there is no current legislation in any market for low carbon fuels in the non-road sector, the rapid switch of focus in the light vehicle and heavy commercial vehicle segments towards zero tailpipe emissions solution is putting put pressure on non-road machinery OEMs as well.”

Woodrow added; “Further tightening of noxious exhaust emissions, greenhouse gas reduction policies, noise, productivity and operator comfort and safety will drive all OEMs to invest in new concepts, architectures and technologies for their machines.”

The presentation will provide insights from the light vehicle and commercial vehicle industries, and how their technologies are evolving, and which may be adopted in non-road machinery.

The Diesel Progress Summit (DPS), organised by Diesel Progress magazine and KHL Group, comprises a conference and awards dinner and takes place the day before the ICUEE show. DPS is an allied ICUEE educational event.
