The first Doosan DX210 in the UK starts work at J & P Lewis's site at Oldbury

The first factory-built Doosan DX210W to enter the UK has been handed over to J & P Lewis (Metals), with the machine having begun work at the company's Oldbury, West Midlands, waste processing facility. Produced in Doosan's factory in Frameries, Belgium, the 25 tonne DC210W features an elevating cab that allows the operator to raise his line of sight by up to 2.5 m (8.2 ft). The machine has been supplied with solid tyres all round, features four hydraulic stabilisers, a goose neck arm, grab and rotation hydraulic circuits and an hydraulically driven generator to provide power for a magnet attachment. A Doosan 6-cylinder common rail engine developing 162 hp (120 kW) provides drive power to the machine.

J & P Lewis has specialised in handling foundry scrap for many years, but now is placing greater emphasis on processing steel scrap from engineering companies operating in a rough 30 mile radius from its Oldbury base. The company's fleet now includes three Doosan machines, including a tracked 14 tonne machine that is dedicated to feeding a baling press.
