Approximately one million tonnes of rubble clay and soil which resulted from the demolition of the old stadium and subsequent construction of the new Wembley stadium was used to create four mounds, up to 22 m (72 ft) high in the new Northala fields. C&D waste from other major construction projects from around London also found its way to the site.

The park is alongside the A40 road, which carries heavy traffic that generates considerable sound disturbance to nearby residents The four mounds serve to block much of this noise, improving the quality of life of local residents.

Ealing Council charge up to £90 (US$170) per truckload of waste and a total of 60,000 lorry loads were transported to the site. In addition to the mounds, the new park contains fishing lakes and a small are of woodland.
