More than 50 projects and products from 36 companies have emerged from a record number of entries to contest this year’s World Demolition Awards in Chicago, USA.

Now in their 13th year, the awards – covering 14 categories recognising innovation and best practice among demolition contractors and equipment manufacturers - will be presented at the World Demolition Summit on the evening of Thursday October 21 as the summit returns to an in-person event.

Adam Safran at the World Demolition Summit 2019 This year’s World Demolition Summit, including the awards, returns to being an in-person event for the first time since the 2019 version in Boston

The ceremony, at the city’s Loews Chicago O’Hare hotel, follows a conference that takes place during the daytime of October 21 and a networking drinks reception for delegates the previous evening.

The winners gathering on stage is the traditional ending for the World Demolition Awards ceremony. This was the scene in London in 2017

As in recent years, the Urban category has been split into two sections due to the large volume of entries received.

The New Entrant Award, now in its fifth year, will be presented once again on the night, as will the overall “best of the best” World Demolition Award decided by the judges from the various winners.
