Reeves brings more than 50 years of experience in the construction equipment industry to the role.

He began his career in 1971 after serving in the US Army’s Infantry Maintenance Division and went on to work for an IH dealership throughout the 1970s, where he helped build the company’s footprint in the excavator and attachment markets.

In 1981, Reeves joined Akerman excavators, rising from a workshop role to sales and eventually depot manager, before remaining with the company during its 1989 acquisition by Volvo.

He formally joined Volvo in 2001, taking on leadership roles including Excavator Product Manager, Attachment Manager, and Director of Demolition, before retiring from the company in 2020.

He now provides consulting services to companies across the demolition equipment sector and serves as Senior Vice President Demolition, Americas, for Steelwrist.

“Walter’s depth of experience across equipment development, sales, and application makes him a valuable addition to this year’s panel,” said Leila Steed, Programme Organiser for the World Demolition Summit. “His industry knowledge and practical background will bring real insight to the judging process.”

The 2025 World Demolition Awards, organised by Demolition & Recycling International (D&Ri), will take place in November in Nashville, United States, as part of the annual World Demolition Summit.
