China-based Sany, one of the world’s largest construction equipment manufacturers, has outlined how it says it is increasing its sustainability.

In a press release, the OEM says that it is increasing its sustainability through its production processes, supply chains and by how its equipment is powered.

Sany said that it is, “vigorously expanding the use of green energy (renewables such as solar and wind) in production processes to reduce the reliance on traditional energy sources, lower carbon emissions, and support climate change actions.”

The OEM added that it is actively engaged in the research and development (R&D) of hydrogen fuel cell technology to improve battery efficiency, reduce cost, and boost the production and storage capabilities, while expanding the applications of hydrogen energy.

Sany has electric excavators and wheeled loaders commercially available for sale.

The press release also said that Sany was “establishing a green supply chain” by adopting renewable materials and environmentally friendly technologies to reduce resource waste and improve the sustainability of the supply chain.
