Total Wrecking implodes final Lakeland structure

By Leila Steed12 April 2023

US-based contractor Total Wrecking & Environmental completes the demolition of a giant boiler unit at the Lakeland Electric CD McIntosh Jr Power Plant in Florida.

Measuring 68 m (225 ft) tall, the fossil fuel-fired boiler was taken down as part of a decommissioning project that has already seen the demolition of three other power plant structures.

Frank Bodami, founder and CEO of Total Wrecking & Environmental, said his team were “excited to restore another critical area within the Lakeland McIntosh Power Plant to make way for newer, cleaner energy facilities.”
