Skyscrapers collapsed in double demolition
By Leila Steed23 May 2023
In August of 2012, the skyline of Chongqing in southwest China was forever changed with the simultaneous demolition of the Three Gorges Hotel and the 32-storey Port of Chongqing passenger terminal building.
The structures were taken down using explosives to make way for the Raffles City Chongqing development. It saw the construction of eight new skyscrapers - four of which are connected by a 300-metre (984 ft) long skybridge, and comprised office, residential, hotel, retail, and recreational spaces as well as a luxury hotel.
