Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is raising the bar in demolition with its new generation High Reach and Straight Boom excavators, delivering enhanced strength, safety, and performance.
Built for demanding demolition applications, the machines feature a modern design, improved operator comfort, and a suite of safety and performance upgrades. The EC400 High Reach and EC500 High Reach replace the EC380EHR and EC480EHR, while the EC400 Straight Boom crawler excavator and EC300 Straight Boom succeed the EC380E Straight Boom and EC300E Straight Boom. Available in Europe and North America, they offer outstanding reach, stability, and versatility.

Stronger, safer High Reach
The EC400 High Reach and EC500 High Reach excavators offer 15% better fuel efficiency, improved ground level access, longer service intervals and quieter operation. Smart View with optional Obstacle Detection enhances safety for operators and site teams.
An extension boom concept increases flexibility, while the optimized structure and hydraulic system support heavier attachments. Optimized hydraulic lines, including a bigger X1 return line and dedicated drain line, reduce back pressure and improve oil leak rates from rotating attachments.
Demolition Assist provides visual and audible alerts on working range and stability. An HD front-view camera display ensures maximum productivity and operator comfort, while the purpose-built cab, featuring scratch-resistant, P5A classified front window and reinforced roof glass, offers optimum visibility and safety.
Higher, smarter Straight Booms
The new Straight Boom models offer around 30% more reach than standard digging-based machines. A detachable heavier counterweight ensures stability for tall tasks. Fuel efficiency improves by 14%, and the EC400 Straight Boom delivers 10% more engine power than its predecessor.
The cab includes roll-over protection and frame-mounted Falling Object Guards. 12mm thick single-piece impact resistant glass provides excellent visibility and protection. New controls, like an electric joystick and travel pedal, enhance comfort and precision.
A bigger auxiliary return line enables faster attachment movements. In an industry first, the case drain line feeds returning oil directly into the tank. Additional features include Auto Power Boost, boom-and-arm bounce reduction, adjustable boom-down speed, and boom-swing and boom-travel priority.
Combining reach, durability, and advanced technology, these machines are ideal for heavy-duty demolition, and versatile enough for digging, site clean-up and truck loading.
