The conference takes place at the Novotel Madrid Center, Calle de O’Donnell, 53, Salamanca, 28009 Madrid, Spain, tel. +34 912 21 40 60.

Transport from the airport

There are multiple ways to get from Madrid-Barajas airport to the hotel.

TAXIS: You can find standard Madrid taxis outside the arrivals hall. They are easy to spots – look for a red stripe on white livery – and will charge you a fixed rate of €33 to get into the city centre. Of course, you can also choose Uber, Cabify or FreeNow (owned by Lyft) which all operate in the city.

BUS: Jump on the yellow 24-hour Airport Express (line 203) from terminals 1, 2 and 4 to the O’Donnell bus stop 200 metres from hotel entrance.

METRO: Take Pink line 8 from any terminal to Nuevos Ministerios station (around 15 minutes), transfer here to Grey line 6 and continue to O’Donnell station. From there, it is a five-minute walk to the hotel.

Other practical tips

• As a member of the European Union, Spain uses euros (€) as its currency.
• Credit cards work almost everywhere; keep a bit of cash for small cafés and public restrooms.
• Tipping is not customary, but you can leave a few coins for extra good service.
• Dinner rarely starts before 9:00 pm or even later.
• The tap water is safe to drink and free in restaurants if you ask for ‘agua del grifo.’
• In an emergency, call 112 for police, ambulance or fire services.

And finally, don’t forget some small shops and boutiques still close for a nice, long siesta in the afternoon …
