Matt Dawson MBE to host the World Demolition Awards 2026

D&Ri is proud to announce that Matt Dawson MBE will host the 2026 World Demolition Awards, which will be held on the final evening of the World Demolition Summit in Madrid, Spain.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s finest scrum-halves, Matt played a pivotal role in England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning campaign, with his pass setting up Jonny Wilkinson’s famous match-winning drop goal in the final.

During his rugby union career, Matt played for Northampton Saints and London Wasps. He is one of England’s most capped players, earning 77 international caps between 1995 and 2006. He also toured with the British & Irish Lions on three occasions, in 1997, 2001 and 2005.

Following his retirement from rugby, Matt has built successful careers in media and business. Since 2007, he has been a rugby commentator and pundit for major UK broadcasters, including TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) and BBC Radio 5 Live.

On television, he is perhaps best known as the longest-serving team captain on the BBC quiz show A Question of Sport, where his sharp banter with opposing captain and international cricketer Phil Tufnell became legendary.

Other media appearances include Celebrity MasterChef and Strictly Come Dancing, where Matt won his series of the UK cooking show, while coming second in the popular dancing competition.

Away from rugby, Matt has supported a range of charitable causes and fundraising initiatives throughout his career, including UNICEF UK. He is a member of the board of trustees for the Black Heart Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving educational access, quality and outcomes for children from underprivileged backgrounds.

In business, Matt is an executive director at global real estate and investment management firm JLL. His 20 years’ experience in outsourcing and real estate has given him extensive expertise in leadership, client management and delivering results in complex organisations.
