Following the recent news that it has opened a branch in Asia-Pacific, the organisation has moved swiftly to set up a European chapter.

The European chapter will be led by chair Stefano Panseri, CEO of Despe and president of the Italian demolition association NADECO, with Patrick Frye of Cardem and EDA president as the vice chair. In addition, Kris Etridge, associate partner at ERM, has been appointed secretary.

President Adrian McLean further revealed that progress is being made to introduce a North American branch, as the IDE continues to “bring the best in the world together under one umbrella.”

The news comes as the IDE celebrates 50 years as the only worldwide institute for demolition engineers.

Its aim is to advance demolition engineering by promoting professional standards, education and continuing professional development, while encouraging the sharing of knowledge and best practice across the industry.
