Hyundai confident Next-Gen technology is key to success

First unveiled in 2025, this line up has since been extended with the HX230, HX260 and HX300 excavators. All current Next Generation machines were introduced to the European market during a press event in Belgium in April.

CEO Sanho Shin, who took over the position as head of the European entity in January, said that this range will be instrumental in driving continued growth and improve Hyundai’s position in the market.

“Despite world event and supply chain challenges, our Next Generation machines give me confidence that we will be even more successful going forward,” he said, revealing that revenue in 2025 was up by more than 40%.

“All our efforts have made the dream come true and I expect this momentum to continue.”

The Next-Gen machines all feature Hyundai’s fully electric hydraulic system (FEH) which the company says is the main enabler of a productivity increase of over 20% (depending on the specific model) compared to its older generation excavators. In addition, the machines are nearly 10% more fuel efficient.

The factory-fitted FEH system enables new technological opportunities, said product manager Ben Gorton in his presentation at the “Hyundai Experience” event at the European HQ in Tessenderlo on 13 and 14 April.

“Not only does the FEH provide smoother, more efficient and more accurate control, this technology also unlucks a whole host of intelligent technologies, such as the 2D machine control and machine guidance systems (which can be upgraded to 3D).”

He also highlighted the Lift Assist and Advanced Lift Assist options as well as the E-Boundary technology that can be used to prevent collisions and increase onsite safety.

Numerous other pieces of equipment were shown to the press, all part of a promised 11 new updates and machines that will be available to customers by the end of Q2 2026.

These include the new HX10Az mini excavator which is just 730 mm wide when the undercarriage is retracted, the two-axle HA45A 4x4 articulated hauler, the HS80V and HS120V skid steer loaders and the HT100V compact tracked loader.

Also, on display was a high reach HX520A crawler excavator. Built in cooperation with demolition specialist STC, the 52-tonne HRD machine can be equipped with either a digging boom, a straight demolition boom or a high-reach rig.

This can take the pin height up to 27 m with a maximum of 3,000 kg work tool weight (including attachment adapter plate and coupler).
