Three Brokk demolition robots are at work in sight of the Eiffel Tower during an office and apartment refurbishment project

French specialist contractor AWM BTP is using two Brokk 100s and a Brokk 160 to carry out work during the refurbishment of 6,000 square metres (64,600 square feet) of office and apartment space in the centre of Paris. The area is subject to strict regulations to ensure high security levels and zero pollution that requires careful removal, sorting and recycling of all materials. As a result, the initial phase of the project required the use of 600 containers to transport waste material from the site. Floor loading limits and elevators that could only carry a maximum of 2 tonnes meant that the Brokk robots were an ideal choice for the work, according to the contractor.

AWM managing director Laurent Panetta continued: “Another reason why we chose the Brokk machines is the remote control that is very beneficial during this complex demolition project.” The value of the project runs to €1.8 billion (US$2 billion) and the current French president, Manual Valls, will occupy one floor of the refurbished building when it is complete, giving an idea of the scale and character of the work being undertaken.

AWM was established in 2011 to offer specialised services within the demolition sector, carrying out structural disassembly, demolition, hazardous waste processing, site clean‐up, recycling and masonry work, and today employs 25 personnel on contracts with both private and public customers.
