Caterpillar’s equipment dealer in Germany, and 12 other countries, Zeppelin, is to unveil new equipment from the manufacturer at this year’s Bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany.

Electric equipment and sustainable solutions look set to be a key theme for the world’s largest construction manufacturer.

Cat, which last year made the decision not to attend any major exhibitions owing to a shift in its marketing investments, stated that it intends to make 100% of its new products through to 2030 more sustainable than the previous generation.

An example of this is the new Cat 336 hydraulic excavator, which will be available to view at Bauma.

The machine is part of 20 next generation Cat excavators with capacities ranging from 1.6 to 95 tonnes. The company said that each excavator offers increased productivity and lower fuel consumption, as well as low cost of operation.

The exhibition could also offer customers a glimpse into the future of Cat equipment, as several electric models that are currently in development will be unveiled for the first time.

Part of the electric range at Bauma is the Cat MH3024 material handler, which the company said excels in indoor applications where less mobility is needed and low exhaust emissions are required.

Cat will also be showcasing what it claims is the world’s first high drive electric drive dozer, the D6 XE.

According to the OEM, the dozer moves up to 35% more material per litre of fuel than its D6T predecessor model, and operator productivity is increased by up to 50% with the use of new technologies.

Some of these, such as the Cat Command Station, Cat Productivity and Cat Grade with Assit, will be showcased on Zeppelin’s inside and outside stands at Hall 6.

Independently of Zeppelin, Caterpillar Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) will be on stand 336, Hall A4, to exhibit several Cat engines, including the newly released Cat C3.6 industrial power unit, plus the C7.1, C9.3B, C13B and C18 engines.

Throughout the course of the show, which is due to take place from the 24 to 30 October 2022 in Munich, attendees will be able to see over 70 pieces of Cat equipment, as well as attachments from Caterpillar Construction Industries (CI).
