Zeppelin Rentals makes big site logistics acquisition

Zeppelin Rental is fully acquiring Constellation Baulogistik, a German company that specializes in construction logistics, sustainability consulting and waste management.

Constellation, which has around 100 employees and locations in Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover and Munich, was previously majority owned by financial investor Constellation Capital.

Zeppelin said the deal will mean a “significant expansion” of the construction logistics business within its rental division.

Constellation Baulogistik comprises two companies: Berlin-based cpc baulogistik (cpc) and GreenLean Baulogistik (GLB), located in Hamburg.

Cpc’s services include delivery of materials to construction sites, waste disposal and access control systems for site workers. It was founded in 2006.

GLB, which was created in 2023, focuses on planning, consulting and software to digitise construction and to optimise sustainability on sites.

Importance of logistics

Peter Schrader, head of the Strategic Business Unit Rental at Zeppelin Group, said; “Demonstrable efficiency gains through optimised management of material and personnel flows on construction sites make construction logistics increasingly important for the future.

“We are therefore pleased about the acquisition of a relevant and strong competitor in this field and about the opportunities that arise from pooling our expertise.”

The CEO and founder of cpc and GLB, Roy Janusziak, said the corporate cultures of the businesses were well matched, and added; “We are convinced that we can leverage synergies and successfully develop the market together.”

Christoph Afheldt, a member of the management board of Zeppelin Rental, said the acquisition underscored its growth strategy and the importance of construction logistics; “Our new colleagues bring a great deal of expertise and experience.

“Together, we can further expand our market position in construction logistics and strengthen our offering.”

The deal requires the approval of Germany’s competition authorities, which Zeppelin said was anticipated in May.
