Yanmar’s new compact excavator

03 April 2013

Yanmar will use the forthcoming bauma show to launch its new 2.6 tonne SV26 mini excavator as the final addition to its range of ultra-short radius machines. The new mini is aimed at a wide range of applications, including urban renewal, agriculture and landscaping.

A transport weight of 2,590 kg (5,698 lb) with rubber tracks and cab allows for trailer transport or by light vehicle. In operating configuration, the machine weighs in at 2,665 kg (5,863 lb) with power coming from a 3 cylinder 1.4 litre Yanmar diesel that generates 17.4 kW (23.4 hp) at 2,400 rpm. The machine is available with an auto-idle option to further reduce the already low fuel consumption, which Yanmar says is less than 4 litres (0.9 gallons) an hour.

Yanmar’s patented VIPPS (ViO Progressive 3-Pumps System) hydraulic system allows three movements to be carried out simultaneously provides increased work speed and smooth operation. The SV26 has a ROPS/TOPS/FOPS certified cab features a redesigned door that has been enlarged to ease entry and exit, with careful ergonomic design of the cab and control layout to provide maximum comfort levels, says the company. Internal noise levels in the cab do not exceed 77 dBA, with the cab fully suspended to dampen vibrations during use.
